My name is Heath Benson. I am the only only member of The Zits. I started playing when I was 16 after being inspired
by Tom DeLonge of Blink 182. A couple years later, when I could actually play, I began writing sappy mellow acoustic songs
and eventually put out an album in '07. After writing all the songs for it, I realized that the music wasn't me. I've been
in love with pop punk since my ears heard Green Day's Dookie when I was 7 years old. So, the music I made back then just didn't
feel right. The album was then tossed in one of my drawers and I never sold a copy. One is floating out there somewhere. You'll
be one lucky son of a gun if you got your hands on it. It's got some great songs, but I don't know what I was doing at the
time haha. So then, in December of '07 I decided to go a new route. I wanted to make music that I love and would actually
listen to myself. And this was good old pop punk in the style of Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and The Ramones. I wanted
to bring back the old school feel and not be afraid of sounding untallented or amaturish (like most of the legendary pop punk
bands haha). So after keeping this in mind, I wrote the first Zits song named "Dreaming Up My Own Fantasy". I have a really
good friend that has heard my music since the beginning and she praises this song as the greatest song she's heard from me.
And she's heard about 50+ songs that I've wrote in the past couple years. I personally love it and agree with her. So now
I started pumping out amazing pop punk songs left and right and decided to get enough together for an album. In January to
April I wrote and recorded about 20 demos. Believe it or not, only about 6 were thrown away but they still sound good and
I might record them just for kicks. My main goal for this album is to have all the songs be extremely fast paced, extremely
catchy, and have an oldschool pop punk feel. I recently started recording the album versions of the demos and so far I have
2 out of the 14 finished. My other finished song is named "I Can't Get You Outta My Mind". I love this song so much that I
consider this and "Dreaming Up My Own Fantasy" the best songs I've written so far. What makes me love it is that the legendary
Joe Queer of The Queers checked out my songs and said that it was his favorite. Now, to make the pop punk legend Joe Queer
to like something, it's got to be amazingly good. After hearing this, I stopped doubting my music and just kept on going.
Just hearing that from him inspired me more. I am expecting to get this whole album recorded by July. It's got a summertime
feel and if I don't get it done before then, I probably won't release the album until next summer haha and just keep making
it better until then. Alright, so that's the history so far!
